Outreach Tennis

This outreach tennis programme takes place on The Shrewsbury Club's outdoor courts and is open to both club members and non-members. We guarantee each young person lots of individual attention and support as we ensure a ratio of no more than five juniors per coach.

Outreach Features

  • Small ratios: maximum 1:5
  • Low cost option: £25 joining fee
  • Continuous tennis: 45 weeks of the year programme
  • Flexible sessions: develop a session around your own family's schedule

Lessons are held seven days a week and, conveniently, they are arranged around the players/parents. If there is enough people to start a new group on any given day, then we gladly will!

It costs £25 to enrol on the programme and then £25 a month for a weekly coaching session. The Shrewsbury Club's outreach programme runs 45 weeks of the year, with our professional LTA qualified coaches delivering all the sessions.

Adult Programmes

Whether you are interested in starting tennis, are a seasoned pro who's new to Shropshire, or you are moving up from one of our junior programmes, the best way to get started is to come along to one of the club socials for adults.

The Shrewsbury Club runs four coach-led sessions a week, where you get to mix with other members, play alongside them and against them. It is informal yet professionally run, so you'll enjoy great tennis plus social interaction.

All adults are welcomed into The Shrewsbury Club's tennis tuition programme with a free 30-minute induction with one of our coaches available for all members.

We offer four social sessions a week, with two hours of social tennis supervised by a coach free of charge for all members with balls provided.

Sessions take place on Monday evenings from 7.30-9.30pm, Thursday mornings between 9.30-11.30am, Thursday evenings from 7.30-9.30pm and Saturday afternoons from 3-5pm.

If you are keen to kickstart your tennis journey with us, whether you are an existing club member or not, email Simon at [email protected] - or call 01743 467755 and arrange an induction.

Team Tennis

If you are keen to improve your game and add a competitive edge, The Shrewsbury Club offers many opportunities for members to test themselves in team tennis.

You can join one of our tennis groups or book individual coaching sessions as adult tennis at The Shrewsbury Club opens up all sorts of possibilities, from Box Leagues to Team League Tennis for people perhaps more competitively minded.

We have six men's and ladies teams in the Shropshire Summer League plus eight winter teams. There are also two mixed teams which enter the Shropshire McKenzie Shield.Team training sessions are held regularly.

With so many tennis teams, there are lots of opportunities for members. All of our home matches are scheduled for Wednesday nights which means we have three or four teams playing at home each week, creating a vibrant social environment for our adults, with the chance perhaps of a quick social drink after your match!

Before each season, we run team practices with new members always welcome to get involved. If it's mid-season, we can include you in an existing team.

If you are not sure what standard you are playing at, don't worry, just call Ann-Marie at the club on (01743) 467755 and she will ensure one of our coaches contacts you for an informal assessment.

Our Singles Box League always proves very popular. It currently has around 40 participants and it gives members the opportunity to play four competitive matches every two months.

We also have a Sunday night Doubles League which features teams of two men and two ladies. They play timed matches of 50 minutes each.

The first round is a men's and a ladies doubles followed by a second round of two mixed doubles. The club provide hospitality in The Hub afterwards with free soup after each round of matches. Open to both members and non-members, we currently have three divisions of six teams.
