Waiting list introduced after record numbers join The Shrewsbury Club

We are delighted that a record number of members have joined The Shrewsbury Club and we have now introduced a waiting list after reaching full capacity. Membership currently stands at just under 6,000 people, with the club’s popularity at its highest level.

To ensure members continue to enjoy the best possible experience, membership sales have been temporarily paused, however, prospective new members are still invited to book a tour of the club and add their name to the waiting list.

Our priority is very much focused on making sure that we continue to provide all of our members with the best possible experience at all times.

Naturally, we are very proud of the fact that we have seen such interest in membership. We are humbled by the excellent feedback we receive about just how much members enjoy the time they spend here at The Shrewsbury Club.

Dave Courteen, our managing director, said: "We are delighted to have now reached a position where the club is at capacity, especially given how challenging the last few years have been when the club was closed during the national lockdown.

"It’s a tribute to the hard work of all the team at The Shrewsbury Club that we have created such a welcoming environment that people want to be members.

“It proves we are a vital part of everyday life for so many people and that exercise is important, particularly in an environment where you are well supported, can seek advice, and meet up with friends afterwards, which is an essential part of people’s health club membership and overall experience.

“The Shrewsbury Club is renowned as being family-orientated. We reached capacity with membership for children a few months ago, and now we have reached capacity for adults as well.

“As ever with any health club, there will always be people leaving for a variety of reasons, so we are now going to be operating on a one in, one out basis in terms of membership.

“People are still very welcome to visit the club to have a look round and see what it is we offer that makes the club so popular - but they may have to wait a few weeks before their membership becomes active.”

Our combination of state-of-the-art gym, more than 100 instructor-led group exercise classes each week, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, swimming pool, day spa and restaurant continues to prove a winning one with the local community.

We knows the importance of that remaining the case, which is why the decision has been taken to introduce a waiting list for new members.

Dave added: "We have reached the point where we are at capacity and to bring more people in would diminish the experience for existing members, and that’s not something we want to do even though our utility bills have doubled, adding more than £100,000 a year to our fuel bill.

“It’s really important first and foremost to look after our members and provide them with the best quality experience.”
