The Shrewsbury Club delighted to be named Shropshire tennis club of the year in LTA awards

We love tennis at The Shrewsbury Club, so we were proud and delighted to be named club of the year when the Shropshire winners of the Lawn Tennis Association Awards were recently announced.

The annual awards, organised by Tennis Shropshire, recognise the contribution of those involved with tennis in the county.

Simon Haddleton, our director of tennis, said: “We love tennis at The Shrewsbury Club and enjoy running programmes and competitions for all ages and abilities. "To be recognised as Shropshire’s club of the year for 2019 when there are so many excellent clubs in the county is fantastic. Our team are really proud to have received this award and we are always striving to continue to improve the services we provide at the club.”

The Shrewsbury Club will now go forward, along with the other Shropshire winners, to the regional awards for the Midlands, with the national award winners to then be announced at Wimbledon next summer.

We were pleased to once again host a number of prestigious events during 2019, including W60 and M25 World Tour tournaments featuring professional tennis players from around the world, the National Wheelchair Tennis Championships, BUCS National Championships, Shropshire County Championships and many county matches.

Catering for a wide range of tennis players, we have developed strong relationships with local schools and colleges, also strengthening our links with the local community. We also regularly hold events for the wider tennis loving public in Shropshire, opening our doors and facilities to help grow the sport.
