Darren’s World Marathon Challenge…

In October 2022, Darren Edwards will attempt to become the first person with a disability to complete the iconic and gruelling World Marathon Challenge (WMC). The WMC is an amazing physical and logistical challenge to run 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days, or 168 hours. To date, this feat has been achieved by less than 200 people worldwide, none of which have had a physical disability. On October 25th, the first marathon is scheduled to begin at Novo (Antarctica) and is followed by marathons in Cape Town (Africa), Perth (Australia), Dubai (Asia), Madrid (Europe), Fortaleza (South America) and Miami (North America).

Darren will battle temperatures as extreme as -40C in Antarctica, all the way up to +40C in Dubai. More than just a physical challenge for those who are able bodied, Darren will be dealing with the challenges of his spinal cord injury (SCI) and the fact that he will be using his arms and shoulders to power the entire journey.
