Wimbledon Ballot

This year’s Wimbledon Ballot for allocation of Wimbledon tickets is open to club members, who have opted in through the LTA website. Our club ballot will take place on Saturday 14th May 2016. There will be an on court mix-in session indoors between 3.00pm – 5.00pm with the draw itself taking place at 5.30pm. Only members who have signed up to British Tennis Membership and have opted into the 2016 ballot are eligible. It is essential that all members are present on this evening; if you are unable to make it please notify Ann-Marie ([email protected]) and she will help you organise a nominee for the ballot.

Hitting Service

We are pleased to be introducing a hitting service into the club, alongside our existing coaching structure. The hitting service will be provided by junior players (Luke Henley, Oliver Cores Birch, Ryan Evans and Callum Hoy), who play at a good level with the purpose of offering practice on a certain area of your game by repetition without offering any technical advice. We believe that this is a great opportunity to develop your game further and put your coaching into further practice. The hitting service will cost £12.00/hour and will be payable at reception beforehand. If you would like further information about these sessions or to book a slot please contact Ann-Marie.

Aegon Classic trip

This year we are really excited about our members’ trip to the AEGON Classic tournament at Edgbaston Priory. The AEGON Classic is one of the key warm-up tournament for Wimbledon and there will be high profile players in action on the grass in Birmingham. The tennis department will be arranging for a group of members to visit the tournament on Thursday 16th June. The day will consist of transport to and from the club, a champagne brunch in Edgbaston and a ticket to Centre Court at the tournament, as well as access to practice courts and outdoor courts. The cost for the trip will be £65.00. To register your interest for the trip please could you e-mail Ann-Marie and she will add you to the trip.

Clay Courts

We have been working extremely hard on the preparation of our clay courts ready for the summer season and we think we are less than two weeks away. There will be a notice up at the club when the courts are available and we will put the nets up accordingly.

We hope that you are enjoying your tennis at The Shrewsbury Club or interested in taking part. If you have any questions / comments, please do not hesitate to contact Ann-Marie. We look forward to seeing you on court asap.
